Exhibit 1.a) Introduction Letter to the staff
At the beginning of the school year, I wrote a letter of introduction to the staff of Pinkston St. Elementary. As a principal resident I wanted the staff to get to know me as an administrator. It was important for my values to be a part of the school's vision and mission during my residency. See Exhibit 1.a.

The Mission Statement is placed in the front office and in every room in the building. As an administrator, it was read daily during the morning announcements. I demonstrated it also during classroom visits and grade level meetings.
Vance County Schools Vision Statement
The Vance County School System is committed to educating all students to prepare them for lifelong learning and productive citizenship.
The county's vision is the vision of all schools in Vance county.
Element 1b. Leading Change: The School Executive articulates a vision and implementation of strategies for improvement and changes which result in improved achievement for all students.
Exhibit 1b.
As a part of our Distinguished Leadership in Practice (DLP)  training assignment, I reviewed the current school improvement plan to target Standard 1b. I applied the plan, do, act, check model (PDAC) based on Pinkston St. School data. As an administrator I must be able to analyze data and with the assistance of the school improvement team target areas of improvement, create and implement a plan that can be checked periodically for fidelity.
See above Exhibit 1c. DLP Homework Assignment 1.2 and 1.3.

Element 1c. School Improvement Plan: The school improvement plan provides the structure for the vision, values, goals and changes necessary for improved achievement for all students. See below Exhibit 1c. Excerpts from Pinkston Street School Improvement Plan
